Washington, D.C. – Former U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, calling him a “dictator” who is refusing to hold elections in Ukraine.

Speaking on the issue, Trump criticized Zelensky’s leadership, suggesting that the Ukrainian president has manipulated the Biden administration to secure ongoing financial and military support for Ukraine’s war against Russia.

“The only thing he was good at was playing Biden like a fiddle,” Trump remarked, implying that Zelensky has taken advantage of President Joe Biden’s policies to further Ukraine’s interests at the expense of American taxpayers.

Trump’s comments come amid growing debate in the U.S. over continued aid to Ukraine, with many Republicans questioning the level of support being provided. Some have argued that Ukraine’s decision to postpone elections—citing wartime conditions—raises concerns about democracy in the country.

Zelensky previously defended the suspension of elections, stating that holding a nationwide vote in the middle of an ongoing war would be logistically impossible and politically destabilizing. His government has maintained that elections will be held once the situation allows for a fair and free democratic process.

Trump’s remarks are likely to add further tension to the debate over U.S. support for Ukraine, as the 2024 presidential race heats up and foreign policy remains a key issue for American voters.
