“He is ready to sacrifice the entire people of Ukraine and its natural resources in order to hold on to his power.”

Russia’s UN Envoy has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of being unwilling to pursue peace, claiming that he prioritizes maintaining his power over the well-being of the Ukrainian people. According to the statement, Zelensky is allegedly willing to continue the war at any cost, even if it means sacrificing Ukraine’s citizens and natural resources.

This rhetoric aligns with Russia’s broader narrative, which paints Ukraine’s leadership as a barrier to peace while portraying Russia’s military actions as necessary or justified. Moscow has repeatedly accused Western-backed Ukrainian leaders of prolonging the conflict for personal or geopolitical gains.

On the other hand, Ukraine and its allies argue that peace on Russia’s terms would mean surrendering Ukrainian sovereignty, as Moscow demands territorial concessions and political control. Zelensky has maintained that any peace deal must respect Ukraine’s borders and sovereignty, rejecting compromises that would legitimize Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian land.

This statement from Russia’s UN representative is part of the ongoing war of words between the two nations, with both sides blaming each other for the continuation of the war.
