Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has strongly warned that he will not recognize any negotiation process regarding Ukraine’s future if he is not directly involved. His statement comes amid reports of possible high-level discussions involving the United States and other global powers without Ukraine’s direct participation.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kyiv, Zelenskyy emphasized that any negotiations concerning Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, or territorial integrity must include Ukrainian leadership. He made it clear that if the U.S. or any other nation proceeds with peace talks without his presence, he would perceive such actions as a direct threat to the Ukrainian people.
“I will not accept any negotiation that I am not a part of. If America moves forward without me in the room, I will consider the U.S. a threat to Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated.
The remarks highlight ongoing tensions over diplomatic efforts to resolve the war, as Ukraine insists on being at the forefront of any decision-making. While Washington has been a key supporter of Kyiv through military aid and diplomatic backing, Zelenskyy’s comments suggest growing concerns about external influence on Ukraine’s fate.
The U.S. government has yet to officially respond to Zelenskyy’s warning, but analysts suggest that the Biden administration may seek to reassure Kyiv of its continued support while exploring diplomatic avenues to end the conflict.
